The Los Angeles Clippers waived forward Josh Powell on Wednesday, it was announced by Vice President of Basketball Operations Elgin Baylor. In 64 games played last season, Powell averaged 5.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 19.2 minutes per game.

The Chicago Bulls will announce the re-signing of restricted free agent forward Luol Deng at a news conference Thursday at 11 a.m. ET. Earlier reports put the value of the deal at $71 million over six years.

Denver Nuggets rookie Sonny Weems had surgery Thursday to repair a sports hernia. Weems, a second-round pick who was acquired by the Nuggets on draft night, is expected to fully recover in time for the start of training camp on Sept. 30.

The Miami Heat announced Tuesday that they have claimed forward Bobby Jones off waivers. Jones, a 6'7, 215-pound forward, appeared in 47 NBA games (two starts) last season with five different teams, including Miami.
